William Daley

Interviewed by SAI in 2000 by The University of the Arts team of Hilary Meese (interviewer), Kevin McCann (videographer), Barbara Mail (advisor.)

Artist's Statement:
For over forty years of our coupled two-ness, Cate and I have lived in this favored gabled house. Now we dream and sleep and I draw upstairs as we live the days in Eden downstairs sharing the passing seasons of Cate's garden and our children's children. In our stone cellar, I keep a studio to work clay and fix in my own way the boundaries where form and spirit may allow the making of a telling brown pot. When I am in the middle of enclosing volumes that morph gravity from dust to mud to rock that say, "We now reside here," I know joy.

I am grateful then to sense the wondrous company of all the venturesome
prodigals called Artists in the future who know they are welcomed home.
